Nobuyoshi Araki constructs fragmented narratives through massive arrays of black-and-white photographs, where the collective becomes the artwork. His Guangzhou exhibition shifts focus from his renowned erotic works to reveal Araki traversing love and death – not as a passionate voyeur, but as a melancholic observer. The exhibition identity adopts "journey" as its concept, using scattered text as the main visual motif to echo Araki’s narrative style. Textual "clues" traverse black graphics symbolizing his works, creating an unconventional, image-free design full of suspense. This approach guides viewers to contemplate Araki’s "Sentimental Journey" while resonating with the exhibition’s themes, artistic essence, and format.

荒木经惟在阵列式的巨量黑白照片中建立起松散的叙事,以整体成为作品。他在中国广州的个展所展出的并不是荒木知名的“情色摄影”,而是侧重呈现那个正在行走于爱与死亡的明灭光影中的,不是爱欲热烈的荒木,而是哀伤平和的荒木。这一摄影展的形象设计以“旅”为概念,将松散的文字作为展览主形象,呼应荒木经惟的叙事特征,并让意味着线索的文字穿梭行走于代表着荒木作品的黑色图形之中,期望这套一反常规、完全没有摄影图片、具有悬念的形象,产生对展览主旨、作者本身、作品特征以及展览形式的呼应和引导,促进观众去感受、思考荒木经惟的“感伤之旅”。
